Quick answer
"Awaiting records" means the job is set up and waiting for the client. Nothing is wrong. When the records arrive, click I have the records now on the job, or go to the Files page and upload them; either moves the job into Records intake & agreement.
When you meet this
At the end of Planning on a job created as A live job - records still to come. The badge shows on the jobs list, the dashboard cards and the job header, and the Next chip reads "Next: upload the records when they arrive". The Planning panel's footer reads "Awaiting the client's records" (or "Planning done - waiting for the client's records") with two buttons, I have the records now and Upload records.
A job created with the records in hand never parks: once Planning runs, its next step is the records check and the badge reads In progress.
What the parked state means
The job is not blocked. The Before call may still be recorded, the records request composed, the planning schedule edited and the details amended while it waits. The dashboard keeps counting the job's deadlines. The Planning panel reads "Planning set - waiting on the client's records." once every card is settled.
How to move on
Open the job. On the Planning panel, or in the assistant's setup panel, click I have the records now. The job's start mode changes, the audit trail records "records received", and the badge and Next chip update.
Or skip the button and click Upload records (or the Files tab) and upload the trial balance, general ledger, profit and loss, balance sheet, VAT returns and the rest. See Uploading the client's records.
Run the records check from the Records stage. AllDone checks completeness and agreement and flags anything to push back. See Checking the records.
Any role can click the button, including an assistant: receiving the records is setup work.
If something looks wrong
The job reads Awaiting records but the records are already uploaded. The badge lifts when the records check starts. Open the Records stage and run it.
You created the job as "live" by mistake and hold the records. Click I have the records now; there is no need to recreate the job.
