Accepting an invitation to join your firm on AllDone

A partner invites you by email; you sign in with that address, confirm it, click Accept invitation, then sign out and back in to start.

Quick answer

Open the invitation link, sign in (or create your sign-in) with the email address it was sent to, and click Accept invitation. Then sign out and sign back in: your firm and role are attached on that next sign-in.

When you meet this

Once, when a partner at your firm adds you. Partners send invitations from Settings, on the Users tab, under "Invite a colleague": they enter your email address, choose your role and click Send invitation. The invitation is emailed to you. If email is not set up for the firm, the partner is shown the link to pass on instead.

There is a separate kind of invitation for the first partner of a new firm; accepting that one creates the firm. This article covers joining a firm that already exists.

How to

  1. Open the link. The page reads "You've been invited to AllDone".

  2. If you are not signed in, click Sign in to accept. Create your sign-in with the invited email address, set up the authenticator app and confirm your email address. See Signing in for the first time and setting up two-factor authentication.

  3. Back on the invitation page you see "Join [your firm]" and the role you have been invited as: Partner, Senior, Junior or Assistant.

  4. Click Accept invitation. The page reads "You're all set" and asks you to sign out and sign back in.

  5. Click Sign out & sign back in. On the next sign-in you land in the firm with your role in place.

What AllDone does with it

Accepting binds your sign-in to the firm. Three checks run before it does: the invitation must still be pending (not expired, revoked or already used), the address you signed in with must match the invited address, and that address must be confirmed. An invitation expires seven days after it is sent.

One sign-in belongs to one firm. If your account already belongs to a different firm, the page says so and asks you to sign up with a different email address.

By joining, your use of AllDone is covered by the terms your firm has agreed to; the page links to them.

If something looks wrong

  • "This invitation link isn't valid." It has expired, been revoked or been used. Ask the partner who invited you to send a fresh one; the pending list on the Users tab shows the status of every invitation.

  • "Please verify your email first." Open the confirmation email, then try again.

  • "Invitation accepted" but "Your administrator will finish setting up your access." Your invitation was recorded but the firm link could not be completed automatically. Tell the partner who invited you; nothing more is needed from you.

  • "We couldn't check your invitation just now." A temporary problem on AllDone's side. Click Try again.
